Hand Washing Tips from the Makers of the One and Only Name Puzzle Stool

Posted on

In our last blog, we discussed how a kid's step stool can help your child to reach the sink and  fight off germs by washing their hands. However, simply teaching your child that they need to wash their hands is often not enough. Many children will take short cuts while washing, and this is almost just as bad as not washing at all! That is why the makers of the one and only name puzzle stool have come up with this list of tips to help you to teach your child to wash their hands properly:

  • Have them sing the birthday song twice- Your child should lather for 15-20 seconds every time that they wash. A child isn't likely to count, but they will enjoy singing the birthday song as they wash.
  • Squidsoap- When your child dispenses this soap a small amount of ink comes out. Once they wash enough to remove the ink completely, their hands are clean! This not only helps them to wash thoroughly, but it also makes hand washing fun.
  • Fun soap- Squidsoap isn't the only fun soap out on the market. There are lots of soaps geared specifically towards kids. If your child is excited about their soap, they will be more likely to want to wash their hands. Fancy soap is a small price to pay to get your child to wash their hands.
  • Teach them to do it right- Many children will only run their palms together, but by doing this they will miss a great deal of germs. Teach them to wash around their wrists, in between their fingers and under their nails.
